Flip Book Project

Today I watched the Madame Butterfly short animation Opera and it was interesting. They used models to show the story of a man and woman who met and spent one night together. The man left the next day and doesn’t return for some time. During his absence the woman remains home waiting for his return eagerly. She realizes she’s pregnant and all of a sudden she forgets about the man who left. The child and mother are happy, they are seen spending time together all while the umbilical cord is still attached. This shows their bond. One day the mother saw the man returning and prepares herself. She prepares for his arrival and is still left waiting. Eventually he comes but he is not alone. He brings a wife and family and takes the child away from the mother. Left alone once again, she retreats and dismantles herself only to be reborn as a butterfly. The butterfly is then seen resting on a girl resembling the mother’s head. This brings the question to mind, Is the mother watching over the daughter in a way?
